Hillary Clinton’s Issues
Hillary
Clinton’s “vision for America” are the issues she has set fourth as most
important on her agenda. It is organized by tabs with information within them
as like “sub-categories” as different issues within the large main issue. These
“issues” are (in order of importance): economy and jobs, education,
environment, health, justice and equality, national security. It’s no surprise
these are the main agenda issues due to her democratic party affiliation, which
they are known for supporting these issues.
I strongly think
she is focusing on these six issues is because each one of them are a major
subject society continues to struggle with and talk about. Regardless, they
affect every race, sex, religion, etc.
Bernie Sander’s Issues
During the
campaign race, Bernie Sanders was only steps behind Clinton in the democratic
primaries with a similar agenda, but there are differences.

Climate Change
Veterans
Each candidate’s
“issues” were comparable with what democratic party views as main agenda
“issues” with Sanders going into more in-depth stances within the bigger issue.
An example of this would be equality, which he shows his stance on women’s,
LGBT, racial, and income/wealth
inequality. Clinton uses the broader subject of equality on her
website. It is important to note that
Sander’s chose to run independently, but still affiliated as a democrat.

Media is all
over these two issues, nationally and globally. Coverage ranges from LGBTQ, gender,
pay, and economic equality. From my own
experience, I can’t remember the last time I didn’t see a news article over one
of these issues on my timeline of my various social media outlets. NEWS IS
EVERYWHERE. With regards to these issues to politics, it’s the media, the
electorate, and the campaigns setting the agenda; not just one specific group. I
say this because without politics and the people within, we wouldn’t be discussing
these topics in the news. It would be scores from sports or news about cows
running loose on the highway. The important issues wouldn’t be brought about
unless there were those trying to resolve them.

I think being a woman, Hillary almost HAS to have a strong stance on equality. I do not blame her for making this a main point in her agenda because she probably saw the potential voters that would support her in this movement. And yes, there is literally news everywhere. This makes it hard for anyone to set their own agendas because the media shapes so much of the content that comes out!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the fact that Hillary supports equality to the fullest. I agree with her in that as well. Because she is a woman it makes her fight for equality much more personal which makes her fight even harder for those rights
ReplyDeleteI think the media's focus is mainly where it is due to the controversy of these topics like LGBTQ. Where as on the Republican side these issues usually aren't even openly discussed which is shameful because they are important issues of todays society. The democratic party is openly approaching these difficult topics where as the conservative side is hiding behind religion and that can only last for so long. Equality was definitely one of Clintons biggest stances understandably and now that Trump won the election a lot of her hard work may as well just be erased.
ReplyDeleteFor the most part, I agree that Bernie and Hillary aligned their issues with those that are on the Democratic party's agenda. That said, for the few areas where they did differ both the party and themselves, I believe towards the end of the primaries and even shortly after, Hillary began shifting those policies to match Bernies to try and gather most of his core supporters.
ReplyDeleteI think it is was interesting for you to compare Hillary and Bernie on their issues because they are concerned with the same issues for the most part and have similar stances on them. Hillary’s website is very clearly organized and easy to read and move around on. Bernie’s is a bit more difficult. When looking at their issues, like you said, the major differences between the two candidates were college tuition, climate change and vets. My question is, was there any changes in Hillary’s views on issues once Bernie was out of the race? Did she begin to pick up any of his views to gain followers?
ReplyDeleteI also found it interesting that you decided to compare Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, it definitely was more unique than most people comparing Trump and Clinton. While most of the issues they agreed upon I think you did a good job of pointing out where they differed. Along with that the pictures did a great job of making this blog post pop out. Great job!
